Captain Quags has been fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay since 1996. In 2003, Captain Quags and his family moved to the Wye River, where he has spent countless hours exploring the Eastern Shore's waterways and all they have to offer. Captain Quags retired from the Federal Government after serving 26 years in law enforcement and has since made Wyerest Charters his passion.
May 27, 2019: Today we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and paid the highest price for our freedom. May God Bless them and their families. We are booking light tackle fishing for June and crabbing charters for July through October.
June 16, 2019: Happy Father's Day to all the Dads. We recently added a commercial crabbing and dealer license at Wyerest so we will now be selling crabs in addition to running charters. The crabbing in the Wye River is slowly heating up as we are currently catching about a bushel per trip. The crabs we are catching are a mix of #1s, extra large, and jumbos. We do not keep any crabs under 5 and a half inches. We are booking dates for crabbing trips in July so contact us to schedule your trip.
July 7, 2017: As the water has warmed we have stopped fishing and will crab exclusively through July and August. We are catching monster Wye River crabs and right now most days we are scratching out a bushel. We currently have July 27th and August 3rd as rare available Saturday dates open for charter crabbing as well as several Thursday and Friday openings. Since we added the commercial crabbing license we can run unlimited trot line and are no longer restricted to 1200 feet until 9 hours after sunrise. Contact us to book your charter.
